Bubble Rap: Forwarding in small world DTNs in ever decreasing circles

چکیده
In this paper we seek to improve understanding of the structure of human mobility, and to use this in the design of forwarding algorithms for Delay Tolerant Networks for the dissemination of data amongst mobile users. Cooperation binds but also divides human society into communities. Members of the same community interact with each other preferentially. There is structure in human society. Within society and its communities, individuals have varying popularity. Some people are more popular and interact with more people than others; we may call them hubs. Popularity ranking is one facet of the population. In many physical networks, some nodes are more highly connected to each other than to the rest of the network. The set of such nodes are usually called clusters, communities, cohesive groups or modules. There is structure to social networking. Different metrics can be used such as information flow, Freeman betweenness, closeness and inference power, but for all of them, each node in the network can be assigned a global centrality value. What can be inferred about individual popularity, and the structure of human society from measurements within a network? How can the local and global characteristics of the network be used practically for information dissemination? We present and evaluate a sequence of designs for forwarding algorithms for Pocket Switched Networks, culminating in Bubble, which exploit increasing levels of information about mobility and interaction.

Energy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks
Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...
متن کاملDelegation Forwarding in Delay Tolerant Networks Multicasting
Delay tolerant networks (DTNs) are a special type of wireless mobile networks which may lack continuous network connectivity. Multicast supports the distribution of data to a group of users, a service needed for many potential DTNs applications. While multicasting in the Internet and mobile ad hoc networks has been studied extensively, due to the unique characteristic of frequent partitioning i...
متن کاملDesign an Efficient Community-based Message Forwarding Method in Mobile Social Networks
Mobile social networks (MSNs) are a special type of Delay tolerant networks (DTNs) in which mobile devices communicate opportunistically to each other. One of the most challenging issues in Mobile Social Networks (MSNs) is to design an efficient message forwarding scheme that has a high performance in terms of delivery ratio, latency and communication cost. There are two different approaches fo...
متن کاملForwarding Policies for Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networks
In Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networks (DTNs) [1], packet forwarding is based on the store-carry-and-forward paradigm. Basically, each node has a buffer and is able to store messages persistently, until an appropriate forwarding opportunity arises. In addition, several routing protocols for DTNs employ message replication as an alternative to increase the message delivery rate. The role of a...
